spirit halloween and

texas children's hospital

At the heart of Spirit Halloween is the Spirit of Children program, which is devoted to bringing the fun, imagination and fantasy of Halloween to children at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas. The program raises money through customer donations for the child life department at our local pediatric center. Avid readers of this blog know that I wrote about Spirit Halloween's "Spirit of Children" campaign that we were doing this past season in Houston and Austin. Our goal was $100,000. We surpassed that goal and recently presented the hospital with a check for $116,616.01!! This money was raised in just 60 DAYS!! Last year we raised $56K and were very happy that we more than doubled that number this year! Spirit staff came together from Houston, Austin & California for the check presentation. And many of the employees from the Child Life Department were there for the celebration. Some of them told us exactly how the money will be used, including some funding for their programs for children with special needs. Texas Children's Hospital has some incredible people who have dramatically changed the lives of their young patients. The hospital served up this very yummy lemon cake, then the staff at Texas Children's presented us with a surprise! Look at the gorgeous artwork done by some of their patients. This is the best "thank you" a person could ask for and it is now displayed prominently in our home.
