State Fair of Texas

The State Fair of Texas opens today! When I was a reporter in this town many years ago, covering the fair was one of my favorite stories. In addition to interviewing gobs of people about the fair, the photographer and I would spend our time between live shots pigging out on ultra-fried food!

I cannot wait to take my Little Kipster this year. He won't be tasting anything fried, but I know he will love the hustle & bustle of true Texas...especially the sight of Big Tex.

The only way to travel

Sometimes traveling with a baby in the car can be a challenge. When the baby is forced to ride backwards in the backseat, he or she can become pretty bored without a lot to do. A little while ago, I decided to let "Yo Gabba Gabba" and a few other of the baby's friends entertain him while I drive around town.
I bought an ipad holder for the car and mounted it on the very back seat where the baby could watch his programs.

Although I do not let him watch it every time we are in the car, it helps if he grows fussy or I have a lot of driving to do. It has been a lifesaver, because once in a while this is what I see when I look in my rearview mirror.
You cannot put a price on a sleeping baby!

PHI MU cookies (almost)

When my fraternity, Phi Mu, recently had our alumni kick-off meeting, I felt very ambitious to whip up some adorable pink and white treats for my sorority sisters. I ordered two cutters from Bake Greek and found some yummy confections for decorating. I was hoping to have a basket full of these when I was finished.
*Sigh,* but alas, the baby started crying as soon as I put the perfectly shaped "Phis" and "Mus" in the oven. It was a terrible week of teething and he needed a lot of attention, bless his little heart.
Needless to say, I ended up buying cupcakes for the Phi Mu kick-off because the overdone cookies in the oven could not be saved (insert very sad face here). On a positive note, giving the baby my undivided attention while the cookies turned to a crisp was well worth it. I was able to soothe the pain and get him to sleep. A sorority mother's work is never done.

Fashion's Night Out

I love Fashion's Night Out! I have enjoyed it in Chicago & Dallas, and this year I decided to check out the Neiman's scene in Plano. Another "first" was to take along my new little accessory-Little Kipster. Even Miss Texas had to pose with him.

Grandparents' Day

Happy Grandparents' Day this weekend! This is the first year that my little Kipster had the opportunity to send cards with a little surprise in them to his grandparents in Maryland and California to help celebrate their special day. ENJOY!
