Sail on Lilly

Today I picked up a couple of Lilly Pulitzer sailor bracelets.

The colors on their website are much richer than the bracelet is in person, but I still like the way they look on my arm.

Turquoise will be my new signature color for Spring, so I added this one to the mix.

I obviously had to buy my "preppy debutante" pink & green colors too.

At this point, I do not have the Phi Mu pink & white nor the nautical blue & white (at least not yet).

Sailor bracelets are always chic for summer and will be fun to wear during my Island trip over the summer.

LL Bean ocean pillows

I love two particular pillows from LL Bean. I have turned one of our guest rooms into a nice summer retreat-the bedroom is a snazzy equestrian polo motif with a nautical bathroom. As I was decorating the bathroom, these caught my eye: This crabby design obviously represents my Maryland roots.

And this one reminds me of our evening lobster bakes on the rocks on Squirrel Island off Boothbay Harbor.

necklace by LeAnita on RHONY

My jewelry designer, LeAnita, had a piece featured during the April 21, 2011, episode of the Real Housewives of New York City.

Alex McCord wears the Asian-inspired cinnabar & onyx necklace during her lunch with Sonja and talks about it on her blog.

Pikesville Mecca

As Passover rapidly approaches, one place just outside of Baltimore, Maryland, becomes an even bigger Mecca for the city. The edmart in Pikesville is an authentic Jewish deli that has been named Baltimore's Best and was featured on the Food Network's, "The Best Thing I Ever Ate." There is good reason why. Their brisket sandwich is one of the best you will find ANYWHERE! Washed down with a Dr. Brown's cream soda and followed by a slice of ribbon cake, be prepared to sit for a spell and rest up from such a great meal. Family-owned for more than 50 years, the deli is featured in Gilbert Sandler's book, Jewish Baltimore. There are many "originals" still hanging on the edmart's wall, including this eye chart written in Hebrew. The baby enjoyed meeting Shelly, one of the owners, who makes everyone who walks through the door feel as if they are walking into her kitchen. He learned about the Afikomen as we did some Matzah shopping. When you are in the Baltimore area, the edmart is NOT to be missed. Be sure to load up on some goodies from the deli case or the shelves because you will certainly want to take a piece of this deli home with you. Follow edmart on Facebook and Twitter.

April Showers bring Babies & Flowers

The Dallas Arboretum is a current hot spot for moms & babies. I had not been in several years, then found myself there with the baby a few times within a couple of weeks. It provides a great background for photos and the baby loves to take in the beautiful colors, despite an initial sneeze or two during our first visit. The Arboretum is a great place to put down a picnic blanket and spend an afternoon on the ground. with preppiness,

Junior League Beauty

A few days ago, my Junior League of Plano was in the Pink! "Pink'd" is an event held at the Dallas Galleria which features several beauty experts from around the country. The event kicked-off with an intimate cocktail party behind the pink velvet ropes. The attire for the cocktail party is "pink-tastic" and everyone looked so lovely uniformed in such a beautiful color. Keeping with the theme, even the cocktails were a Preppy pink hue. Among the stylists and beauty consultants, Beverly Hills hairstylist,Elgin Charles, flew in for the event. You may also know him from his VH1 reality television show, "Beverly Hills Fabulous." Junior Leaguers and other party-goers received one-on-one consultations and took home little goodies to add to their at-home beauty routine. Door prizes were also given, and I received a fabulous spa certificate from Avalon Spa. To my surprise, my reaction to hearing my name called was captured by the "Paparazzo." It was a great night and I think I will put my winnings to good use by scheduling a much needed massage some time next week!
