As
Passover rapidly approaches, one place just outside of Baltimore, Maryland, becomes an even bigger Mecca for the city.
The
edmart in Pikesville is an authentic Jewish deli that has been named Baltimore's Best
and was featured on the Food Network's, "
The Best Thing I Ever Ate."
There is good reason why. Their brisket sandwich is one of the best you will find ANYWHERE! Washed down with a Dr. Brown's cream soda and followed by a slice of ribbon cake, be prepared to sit for a spell and rest up from such a great meal.
Family-owned for more than 50 years, the deli is featured in Gilbert Sandler's book,
Jewish Baltimore.
There are many "originals" still hanging on the edmart's wall, including this eye chart written in Hebrew.
The baby enjoyed meeting Shelly, one of the owners, who makes everyone who walks through the door feel as if they are walking into her kitchen.
He learned about the
Afikomen as we did some Matzah shopping.
When you are in the Baltimore area, the edmart is NOT to be missed. Be sure to load up on some goodies from the deli case or the shelves because you will certainly want to take a piece of this deli home with you.
