Moroccanoil

I love MOROCCANOIL. It is not just the oil that I love, but all of the products in this line. In addition to being sulfate, phosphate and paraben free, the shampoo and conditioner will leave your hair feeling like silk. The shampoo and conditioner are also safe to use on color-treated hair, whether you have made your hair lighter or darker. MOROCCANOIL can be found at various shows around the country where you will have the opportunity to speak with a representative about their products.

Crybaby Matinee

The baby took his first trip to the movies! Ironically, I won't allow him to watch television at home because of his young eyes, yet I subjected him to a two hour flick on a large screen.

He and other babies were welcomed guests thanks to the Angelika and the Crybaby matinee.

Each week the Angelika encourages parents to bring their baby to the movies! Sometimes they provide a changing table within the theater (though they did not this time) and the lights are dimmed so you can see your baby in the dark. We have two Angelikas in our area, which means we can see two different movies in any given week.

We decided to see The Tourist, despite the poor reviews online.

Each baby simply sat in his or her car seat, which was placed on the movie seat.

During the film I had to leave to do a diaper change and when I returned I felt that I really had not missed much in the movie. That is my way of saying the reviews were fairly accurate.

There were a dozen people in attendance and four of them were babies. Surprisingly, all of them were very quiet, with the exception of a certain *someone* who was sitting in my lap and chatting to himself in his own "baby" language! The Crybaby matinee is a unique way to spend time with your baby, while still keeping up with current films.

Sassy shellac

It became very trendy in nail salons this past summer. SHELLAC nails are a popular alternative to acrylic nails. Instead of destroying your natural nails with a drill for an acrylic finish, shellac allows you to have a polished look in a much less traumatic way.

The nail is painting with a base coat, two layers of polish and a top coat as with any regular manicure. The difference is that each layer is "cured" with a UV lamp to secure the color. Unlike a regular manicure, shellac nails are supposed to keep their glossy polished look for up to two weeks without a chip or smudge to the polish. Plus, there is no drying time because of the curing. These are my nails a week after my trip to the spa.

You can also create interesting colors by mixing polishes. Your manicurist will be able to tell you what the color combinations can produce.

Not every salon offers shellac nails, so you will have to do a search to find a salon near you.

Etsy store is OPEN for business

I have thought about selling on Etsy for quite some time, and I am finally getting around to it. I have started with my preppy debutante co. handmade Christmas totes. I have a ton of other tote designs, which I will list in January. These are canvas totes that measures: 11" wide and 9" tall with 6" handles. Each tote has a precious Christmas theme on the front.

The totes are $12.25 (see the significance?) each and shipping is free.

Save yourself the time of wrapping Christmas presents this year by giving them in a Christmas mini-tote from "the preppy debutante co.", which is a gift itself. You can find me on Etsy under "preppydebutante."

Below are some of the designs. Have a wonderful holiday!

A peek inside du Musée du Louvre

I love the Louvre! When you arrive to the museum, you will more than likely see some very friendly mounted policemen in the courtyard. The architecture of the building is very beautiful too. It is easy to become lost in such a large museum, so a stop by the information desk is a necessity. I think the present-day artists who "set up shop" in the hallways are more talented than some of the original artists! It can be more difficult to master a replica than to create an original one. It is not just the paintings on the walls that are masterpieces, you can take in an eye full from floor to ceiling. A shot of Miss Venus The number one reason to visit the Louvre. What do YOU think Mona Lisa is smiling about?

Preppiness with "Seoul"

Bean Pole is a preppy clothing company out of South Korea. An affiliate of Samsung, their fashions bring old school preppiness to the forefront. With their styling guide at your fingertips, they make it very easy for anyone to Prep up their wardrobe before stepping out. From the staple trench coat for ladies to argyle and crested blazers for children... Bean Pole likes to keep things traditional. My personal favorite is their adorable line for children. Whether you simply shop for accessories or for more substantial pieces, Bean Pole clothing is suitable for any prep who wants to add a little bit of Seoul to their closet.
